Atamian VW Sends Two Salesmen to Tour US VW Plant and Receive Training on the new 2012 Passat

Reed Atamian is keeping his staff ahead of the curve when it comes to the new 2012 Volkswagen Passat!

Atamian VW Honda President Reed Atamian had two salesmen invited to attend a 2012 Passat Conference. The conference was held June 2nd and 3rd 2011.

Atamian chose to send veteran salesman Jim Tringale and Darith Nhem.

This conference was held at Volkswagen first US manufacturing plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The new plant was opened on May 24th 2011 and is expected to employ 2000 ? 2500 workers and make 15,000 vehicles per year.

The focus of the conference was the new 2012 Volkswagen Passat.

The 2012 Passat is the first model to be manufactured at the new plant the very first produced will be staying at the plant for display.

The Atamian salesmen were among the first in the country to drive the new 2012 Passat models.

The Volkswagen Academy training conducted was comprehensive in reviewing each 2012 Passat model as well as a tour of the new plant.

In speaking about the recent trip Atamian Volkswagen salesmen Darith and Jim offered;

"When we arrived at the Coliseum we found out how we were going to get to Chattanooga; we were going to be driving the 2012 Passat. In caravan style with 100 Passats, we each took turns driving the 2012 Passat on our two hour ride from Atlanta to the new Chattanooga plant. The 1.5 billion dollar plant is tremendous. This was my first trip to a manufacturing plant I was amazed at the precision and speed; they can complete 40 to 50 vehicles an hour! The 2012 Passat handles just like the finely crafted meticulously engineered German manufactured VWs. The new 2012 Passat is roomy, offers a sophisticated look and was pure joy to drive."

Volkswagen has its sights set on doubling its sales for 2011 part of that strategy is to enhance the customer experience through an increase in its comprehensive sales training and aggressive pricing.

Kevin Richardson, Atamian General Sales Manager "The hands on training and tour of the facility will provide Atamian customers with first-hand knowledge and great background information on the US built 2012 Passat. We will have them on our lot for test drives the first week of July. There have already been a number of reservations made. There is a lot of interest in the new Passat."

The Volkswagen and Honda franchises are operated at 150 Main Street, Tewksbury, MA, which occupy land from Route 38 to I- 495 in Massachusetts. Atamian Volkswagen Honda reaches out to Town Officials to help Support 4th of July Celebration

Reed Atamian, President of Atamian Volkswagen Honda Inc., is contributing to The Friends of the Tewksbury PAC to ensure the 4th of July celebration will continue on this 4th of July.  The contribution Atamian Volkswagen Honda is making will allow the town of Tewksbury to put on the good 'ole fashion celebration the town of Tewksbury has had in years past.  The celebrations take place on Monday, July 4th at 10am at the Livingston Street Recreation Center with track and field games for the children, hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch, and other activities throughout the afternoon.  The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:30pm.

"The Fourth of July is the quintessential summertime holiday and the town of Tewksbury puts on an incredible afternoon of events along with a spectacular fireworks display in the evening," said Atamian Volkswagen & Honda, Inc. President Reed Atamian.  "I am honored to help the town of Tewksbury bring families together to celebrate America's birthday the way in which I remember as a kid."

"Without the help of businesses such as Atamian Volkswagon Honda Inc., we would not be able to put on these events, said Jerry Selissen Committee Member of The Friends of the Tewksbury PAC.  "We began to rely heavily on donations from the community about 4 or 5 years ago and Reed Atamian stepped right up.  We couldn't continue to put on such a spectacular celebration without him and the contributions of others in the community."

Atamian Volkswagen Honda Supports Ocean Matters

In an effort to raise awareness of trouble facing our oceans, Mr. Terry Atamian has made various donations to Ocean Matters ? a summer marine biology program headquartered in Uxbridge, MA. This interactive program gives students a hands-on and ?heads-under? approach to marine biology and prepares them with real world experience.

?I have lived near the ocean my whole life,? said Mr. Terry Atamian.  ?I?m also an avid fisherman and look for ways to support both oceanic research and my local community. Ocean Matters combines two of my passions.?

In support of the program, Mr. Terry Atamian has made a monetary donation towards helping Ocean Matters send young participants to two different dive site in Grand Cayman.  The dive sites will allow the participants to gather important information used by the local Department of the Environment.

In addition to a monetary contribution, Mr. Atamian has generously donated an up close and personal tour at the Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, MA to be used in an Ocean Matters silent auction at their annual fundraiser.  The package features various choices of events and private tours for the winner to participate in.  The Marine Biological Laboratory is an international center for research, education, and training in biology, biomedicine, and ecology.

"Ocean Matters is grateful for the generous support of Atamian VW/Honda for our scholarship drive,? said Executive Director of Ocean Matters, Laura Parker Roerden. ?Such support tells young people that we find their work to protect the coral reef worthy of our attention."

About Ocean Matters:

Ocean Matters offers Summer Marine Biology programs for young people and educators.

Ocean Matters mission is to support young people and educators in developing the skills, knowledge, and convictions to be stewards for the marine ecosystem.

The marine biologists/educators at Ocean Matters believe that all students can meet high academic standards -- as long as they have support and a desire to do so. The program is academically rigorous in order to give students a realistic view of college-level study in marine biology so that they might "try on for size" a career in science. Unlike in college, however, you will be supported thoroughly to succeed in your studies -- through one-on-one study sessions with faculty, intensive writing seminars, and other special tutoring sessions.

Ocean Matters classes are hands-on and interactive, a 'heads-under' approach (as one student described it) where your studies center around daily dives on the reef. Atamian Family Supports Falmouth Dog Park Project

Terry Atamian & The Atamian Family contribute monetary donation in support of dog park.
In an effort to propel the Falmouth Dog Park into construction, Mr. Terry Atamian of Atamian Volkswagen Honda has made a significant monetary donation in support of the project.

?I believe in giving back to the communities which I have been a part of for a number of years,? said Mr. Terry Atamian.  ?Various projects in the area I hold close to my heart, and I am grateful to be part of giving the citizens around Falmouth a fun place to take their dogs.?

In recognition of their donation, a park bench was constructed in the park which stated ?In Loving Memory, Fritz of Wolfsburg ? The Atamian Family.?

?Mr. Atamian and his family have been very generous in their donation to the dog park. They will provide a second place for people (and dogs) to sit while enjoying the park,? said Barbara Schneider, president of Falmouth Dog Parks, Inc ?We can't think of a better way to memorialize a family member than by allowing so many to enjoy a beautiful, and fun spot in a relaxing way.?

The dog park was under construction in early January, and private donations such as the ones made by the Atamian family, have played a large role in its construction and anticipated completion.  The parks mission, according to its website, is ?to create a welcoming, safe and environmentally sensitive community dog park for use by residents, visitors and their pets.?

In a previous media article, it was reported that Schneider received an e-mail from Mr. Terry Atamian on New Year?s day, and was quoted as saying ??We are so grateful for their generosity. It was a wonderful way to start the New Year.?

Reed Atamian Tewksbury Patch Article!

The Atamian family has been selling cars and contributing to the town since 1919.

When it comes to automobile sales, you could say that Terry "Reed" Atamian has been around the block and back again.

The dealer recently celebrated his 42nd year of President's Day sales at his location at 150 Main St. The history of the Atamian family in the automobile industry, however, goes further back than that.

The Atamians began selling cars as early as 1919, but it wasn?t until 1924 before the family sold their first new car. They have been in the business so long, in fact, that several of the car manufacturers of their early dealerships no longer exist: Hudson,  Rambler,  Nash,  and American Motors. The Atamian family has dealt in so many iconic brands that Reed has trouble remembering them all.

"The list goes on. I?m probably missing a few unless I look at the list," he said.

Reed bought the lot where Atamian Volkswagon and Honda now sits in 1968. At that time, it was just a small parcel. He has since added four adjoining parcels so that his full plot extends for six acres up to the 495 on-ramp.

"It was just this piece of blacktop," said Atamian of the 1960's facilities. "ow I own from 495 all the way to Rte. 38."

VW was the only make Reed Atamian sold throughout the 1960's until Honda was added to the lot in 1976. Currently, Atamian Volkswagon and Honda is planning to further renovate its facilities. A $10 million-dollar expansion to the Honda dealership is in the works. At this point the blueprints have been drawn up, and the next step is to meet with American Honda. The dealership's plans, according to Atamian, are to renovate a brick building at the back of the lot that is being used for storage.

"We?re hoping to turn that into the future home of Atamian Honda," he said.

The meeting with American Honda is scheduled for within the month, and the dealership expects to get work underway as soon as the town rubberstamps the project. Atamian isn't holding his breath, as recently it took about two years for the dealership to get the OK to pave two vacant lots.

"Maybe this will go quicker now because we won't encounter some of the issues we had on the first go-around," he said hopefully.

The postponement of a new building doesn't seem to be hampering Atamian's ability to do business in the least. According to Atamian, the dealership is experiencing record numbers in terms of new sales and cars delivered.

"Volkswagon's very hot right now," he said, "and Honda just continues to grow. We seem to sell 10 to 15 percent more Hondas each year from the previous year."

The numbers support this statement. From Fiscal Year 2009-2010, to Fiscal Year 2010-2011, Honda's sales jumped 18.8 percent and VW's spiked by 21.5 percent. Thanks to sales from President's Day, the dealership had nearly 200 new cars delivered this month. Atamian also saw its highest sales this past December, selling 191 Hondas over the course of a single month.

All this success has enabled Reed Atamian to give back generously to the community and a variety of local charities.  Atamian is involved with the Tewksbury Patriotic Committee, and says he will be there in the future to help in whatever way he can.

"We?re committed to (continuing) our relationship with them,"he said.

In the past, he also donated a new Eurovan to Tewksbury's D.A.R.E program, an initiative that encourages children to stay drug-free.

For Atamian, active community involvement is a necessary part of his presence in the town, especially in the current economic climate.

"We need to get the word out because these organizations are getting crunched in this current economy, and it might encourage other businesses to step up," Atamian said in a press release.

Though he had contributed to multiple organizations for many years, Reed didn't realize how much his contributions inspired others until he attended "A Magical Evening" with Dr. Murray Feingold. At this event, the National Center for Birth Defects was renamed the Dr. Murray Feingold Center for Children.

At "A Magical Evening" Dr. Feingold encouraged Atamian not to give anonymously so that others unsure of contributing "would feel compelled to do so as well",  said Atamian.

Atamian said that this exhortation helped him to continue his work with charities. In October, a donation that Atamian made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure was bolstered by donations from three other local business.

"The four of us teamed together to make a larger donation," said Atamian. "And that was all part of getting the word out."

As for Atamian?s charity of choice? He prefers The Genesis Fund because of its focus on helping underprivileged children.

"The Genesis fund is my leading charitable organization that I support," said Atamian. "hey?re like my number one cause for the wonderful work they do with less fortunate children."

As is the case with cars sold, the list is long for charities Mr. Atamian supports. Along with the Genesis Fund, Atamian donates to "Juvenile Diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Cam Neely Foundation,  and various Tewksbury and Lowell youth organizations," according to Atamian's website.

The Atamian name has been in business in Tewkbury now for 92 years and spanning four generations. With an expansion on the way, it is likely that the Atamians will be doing good things for many years to come. Atamian is of the opinion that they may even be expanding to other locations in Tewksbury somewhere down the line.

?" forsee the business growing to a point where I?m going to need additional land," he said.

Atamian family donates to The Genesis Fund to help children

By Shawn Hansen, Correspondent

Jun 11, 2010

Tewksbury

Atamian Volkswagen-Honda has sold care since 1969 in Tewksbury, and the business has quite the history. Beginning their business selling used cars in 1919, the Atamian family settled down in Massachusetts in 1924.

Making a donation of over $40,000 to the Genesis Fund this year, Terry Atamian said, "I've been a major contributor to the Genesis Fund for well over 10 years. This is one of many donations that we've made just this year."

The Genesis Fund is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for the specialized care and treatment of New England area children born with birth defects, genetic diseases and intellectual disabilities. The Atamian family made the donation at the organization's "A Magical Evening" event on Saturday, May 15 at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel.

Along with making donations to the Genesis Fund, Atamian said his family gives money to Cystic Fibrosis and Juvenile Diabetes. Atamian said they have donated cars to the Lowell Police Athletic League and the Tewksbury D.A.R.E. program.

"This has been something ongoing with my family's philosophy to give back to the community," said Atamian. "We've sponsored local hockey, soccer, baseball, and basketball organizations for years, going back to when my father first started this dealership."

Dr. Murray Feingold of the Genesis Fund inspired Atamian to publicize his donations this year.

In the past, Atamian said he never wanted publicity, but the organization asked him to spread the word about what he is doing.

"The economy being the way it is, and the way I've been able to give back to these organizations, to not publicize them, it's not benefiting them as much as they could be," said Atamian.

By making donations public, Atamian hopes that other companies will help out these different causes.

"The important part of this is, I've been doing these donations, some of them go back to 2005 where it was roughly $10,000 a year. I'd donate to these organizations," he said. "These organizations are hurting so much from the way the economy is right now, and they've asked me to go ahead and spread the word about my donations, so that other people will give as I do. "

Other ways that the Atamian family is raising money is to give away 10 tickets to Yaz-Day at Fenway Park, which will benefit the Genesis Fund.

"We're giving away 10 tickets to Yaz-Day, which is June 25 at Fenway Park. It's put on by the Genesis Fund, and we'll be donating 10 tickets to the use of this area, and another 10 tickets to another area," he said.

Terry Reed Atamian and The Atamian Family have also long been active in numerous community and charitable activities through the years, including the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation,Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Genesis Fund, Cam Neely Foundation and Tewksbury, Falmouth and Lowell youth organizations.

Atamian Supports Tewksbury Fireworks

Tewksbury
Posted Jun 18, 2010

The Atamian family, owners of Atamian Volkswagen and Honda, Inc. in Tewksbury, donated $2,000 to the Friends of the Tewksbury Patriotic Activities Committee, which will be used to benefit the 2010 Tewksbury fireworks scheduled for Sunday, July 3 on Livingston Street.

"The Fourth of July brings people together in a community while fostering Patriotic pride,"said Reed Atamian, president of Atamian Volkswagen and Honda, Inc. "We feel it is important for towns to have these celebrations and are honored to help the Tewksbury Patriotic Activities Committee keep their traditions alive for many more generations to come."

The Friends of the Tewksbury Patriotic Activities Committee was formed in 2006 to promote and organize community funding and participation for patriotic events such as the Memorial Day parade, Veterans Day service, and Independence Day celebrations.

"Our celebrations have unfortunately been negatively affected by the difficult economy which led to the cancellation of our 2008 Independence Day event," said Tewksbury Patriotic Activities Committee Chairman Jerry Selissen. "We're very grateful for the generous support from people like the Atamian Family whose donations since then have helped revitalize and keep our celebrations alive."

The Atamian family is an active part of the Tewksbury community, and in addition to this donation to the Tewksbury Patriotic Activities Committee, the family has also donated 10 tickets to Yaz Day at Fenway Park to the Tewksbury School Committee.

Yaz Day at Fenway Park is scheduled for Friday, June 25. Proceeds from the event benefit the Genesis Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for the specialized care and treatment of New England area children born with birth defects, genetic diseases and intellectual disabilities.
